  8.         This electronic version was made possible through a personal
  9.         arrangement with the Managing Editor of Imprimis and the
  10.         President of Applied Foresight, Inc. (R.H. Martin) who packages
  11.         and distributes this electronic version of Imprimis as a
  12.         charitable free-of-charge service.  Address: Applied Foresight,

  17.              Applied Foresight, Inc. also publishes ShareDebate
  18.         International (ISSN 1054-0695), a diskette-magazine. Formerly a
  19.         shareware semi-annual magazine, it is now copyrighted freeware
  20.         with the double-disk issue #7-8.  Between 550 to 1,450 listed
  21.         Bulletin Boards  (BBSs) or Shareware dealers in 25 countries
  22.         distribute the magazine.  It is an international debate forum--
  23.         over 25 debate topics now--for computer users concerned about the
  24.         present and the future, carrying non-fiction & fiction, original
  25.         and reprints.

  27.              Past issues have featured Ben Bova (President, SF Writers
  28.         of America; former editor of OMNI & Analog; former President,
  29.         National Space Society); George Gilder (author & regular
  30.         contributor to Forbes, Wall Street Journal & the National
  31.         Review); Nobel laureate Milton Friedman; GEnie management;
  32.         Attorney-Sysop Paula Goldman; Rt.Lt.General Daniel Graham
  33.         (Director, High Frontier Inc. & Assoc. Ed., J. of Practical

  47.              As a convenience to those without modems or to those with
  48.         modems who don't want to download nearly 2MB of existing
  49.         magazines, back issues are available on diskette.  The content is
  50.         freeware but diskettes, postage, packaging, and handling isn't.
  51.         To get it free one has to obtain it from the multitude of no-
  52.         charge BBSs that carry it.  Around 1,500 distributors exist 
  53.         worldwide but the most common places are any SDN BBS (there are 
  54.         about 400 SDN BBSs worldwide); any BBS that carries the latest 
  55.         PC-SIG CD ROM (disk #s 2121, 2260, 2390, 2749, 2750, 2753);  BIX 
  56.         (IBM.UTILS filearea); or GEnie (IBMPC RT Applications library). 
  57.         Search for the filename pattern, DBATE*.*.  As of this date, all 
  58.         of these carry the existing 8 issues.  PC-SIG has or will shortly 
  59.         release issues 7-8.  If you use Internet, you can obtain the files 
  60.         through anonymous ftp access from wuarchive.wustl.edu from the 
  61.         directory /archive/doc/publications/ShareDebate.  Login as 
  62.         'anonymous' and your complete e-mail address as your password.  A 
  63.         complete ftp sample script is available from Applied Foresight.

  65.              Special back-issue deal for owners of an IBM PC/compatible
  66.         or Macintosh (who MUST have be able to read 1.44 MB diskettes).  
  67.         Reference this filename and where you obtained it, and for $10, 
  68.         you will get the 8 existing issues of ShareDebate International.  
  69.         Indicate the highest capacity diskette you can take and whether 
  70.         you have a hard disk or not.  Canadians, add $2; International 
  71.         orders, add $5.  Pay in US $ against a US bank.  Visa/MC accepted 
  72.         (include expiration date & name as it appears on the card).  MN 
  73.         residents add 6.5 % sales tax.  2 to 6 weeks delivery time.

  75.         Inc. address given above.  (Mac users have to have the 1.44 MB 
  76.         diskette because Mac users are actually serviced on an IBM 
  77.         computer that uses the Mac-n-DOS software which can only format

  80.            Note: ShareDebate International did not publish any issues in 
  81.         1992, so there are only the 1990 & 1991 issues available.  Effort 
  82.         is underway to revive the electronic magazine.  Orders are still 
  83.         being honored for obtaining the back issues, as detailed above.

  91.                            FREEWARE VERSION OF IMPRIMIS

  94.            Redistribution of Imprimis, On Line is encouraged.  Please do
  95.         share it with your friends, upload it to bulletin board systems,
  96.         etc.  However, as this magazine is made available for you free of
  97.         charge, that does not mean that it is free of usage restrictions.
  98.         What follows is the current license to distribute and use it.
  99.         
  100.            Although Imprimis, On Line is copyright-protected, it is
  101.         freeware and you may distribute issues of the magazine freely on
  102.         a non-exclusive basis without additional written permission as
  103.         long as you abide by all of the following restrictions:

  105.            The program shall be supplied in its original, unmodified
  106.         form, which includes this documentation. A few minor deviations
  107.         are allowed:
  108.         
  109.             You are permitted to add a standard "header" file or (in the
  110.         case of a BBS archive distribution) a standard "header" archive
  111.         comment which limits itself to (a) a short ad for your company
  112.         and/or (b) a standard get-started file used with all of your
  113.         distributions.
  114.         
  115.             You are permitted to use high density diskettes and to
  116.         include more than one issue of Imprimis, On Line per diskette.
  117.         
  118.             If you use diskettes to distribute your offerings, you are
  119.         permitted to bundle Imprimis, On Line issues on the same
  120.         diskette(s) that contain material made by others only if you
  121.         include a "read.me" file that explains that the other files on
  122.         the diskette are unrelated to and unknown to Imprimis and
  123.         Hillsdale College.
  124.         
  125.             No fee may be charged for the magazine content, although you
  126.         may charge whatever fee you want for the blank diskette,
  127.         formatting, copying, packaging, BBS-general-access charges,
  128.         distribution and mailing involved.  It must be obvious to the
  129.         customer that they are not being charged for the magazine, but
  130.         rather for the above handling/shipping costs.
  131.         
  132.             Unless you have personalized written permission from Applied
  133.         Foresight, Inc. (AFI hereafter), Imprimis or Hillsdale College
  134.         (Imprimis hereafter), you may not assert that (a) you have made
  135.         special arrangements with AFI or Imprimis to distribute this file
  136.         or (b) that AFI or Imprimis endorses your organization or any
  137.         other product that you're involved with.
  138.         
  139.             You're not required to, but we request that if you distribute
  140.         Imprimis, On Line, to please provide AFI with your full address
  141.         and if you can afford it, material showing how you "carry"
  142.         Imprimis, On Line (diskette copy, brochure, catalog, or print-
  143.         screens in the case of a BBS).  There is no need for (a) those
  144.         BBSs to whom R.H. Martin or AFI upload to, and (b) to those BBSs
  145.         who carry SDN shareware.

  147.             This distribution license only applies to the AFI-produced
  148.         freeware version of Imprimis.  Contact Hillsdale College for
  149.         information about distributing copies of the free paper version
  150.         of Imprimis.
